Babies are made when eggs from a uterus join with sperm.
What are these?
Eggs
Human eggs are very small, about the size of a pencil tip. They do not have a shell.
Human eggs are stored in a part of the uterus called ovaries.
Sperm
Sperm are the cells that help make a baby when they join with an egg.
They are very small and shaped like a tadpole.

The vagina and cervix are also part of the female reproductive system.
Uterus
The uterus is where a baby grows when someone is pregnant. It is sometimes called the womb.
The uterus is at the top of the vagina.
Cervix
The cervix is the opening to the uterus.
It is a ring of muscle that can open to let a baby move from the uterus into the vagina when it is being born.
Vagina
The vagina is the tube that goes from the uterus to outside the body.
The vagina is made of muscle and is stretchy.
When a baby is born it comes out of the body through the vagina.
Ovaries
There are 2 ovaries, one on each side of the uterus.
The ovaries hold lots and lots of eggs.
These eggs can make a baby if they join with a sperm.

The penis helps make a baby by moving sperm out of the testicles into the vagina.
Sperm comes out of the tip of the penis in a fluid called semen.
Semen looks a bit like milk.

Testicles
There are 2 testicles. They hang down from the body behind the penis.
The testicles make sperm.
The testicles are inside the body. They are inside the scrotum.
Scrotum
The scrotum is the skin around the testicles.
Pubic hair grows on the scrotum.
